People are blind to Spyware

The vast majority of people are blind to spyware, adware and other unwanted software according to a survey sponsored by security software firm, McAfee.

Trojan Demands Ransom from Victims

A new trojan is making its rounds on the Internet, freezing up victims’ computers and then demanding a ransom be paid through Western Union. Called "ransomware," the viruses have been around in Russia for several months, but the first English variants appeared in March.

Viruses strike at Infosec networks

IT security companies exhibiting at this year’s Infosec show in London have been slammed for not practising what they preach, following the discovery that exhibition stands are hosting unsecured wireless networks and viruses aplenty.
Security scanners set up by McAfee detected wireless networks that are either lacking any encryption or are using default password settings.

Remediation Software Automatically Detects Malware

To help ISPs reduce the cost of dealing with customers whose computers become infected with malware, Simplicita unveiled software that automatically detects and quarantines infected computers.
