The end state of almost every corporate computer network today is to facilitate the work of the employee. Making their life easier through a simplified computing experience makes good business sense. Well a proxy server is a computer operating as a server vice workstation.
This proxy server in turn offers other computers an indirect means of accessing other computer services. Services such as a Web server for example located somewhere on the Internet. Simply put, the workstation opens its homepage of say WindowSecurity.com, and that request is in turn relayed to the proxy server. The server will check to see if it has a cached version of this page and if not it will then go get it and relay it back to the workstation in question A proxy by any other name
